Somedays I find myself feeling really sad. Sad that my kids aren’t “normal”. I then feel a bit angry that we’ve somehow been cheated from living a “normal” life. Today was one of those days.

Tonight as I was putting Sophia & Jule to bed I saw the print I had ordered off of Etsy for their nursery before they were even born, which says “BEUNIQUE”. It has a bunch of fish all the same colour…except one. While looking at it I started to remember why I ordered that print. Out of all the nursery prints, I chose that one. Why? Because I wanted my girls to know that they don’t have to fit into any kind of mold and they should embrace their uniqueness because thats what makes us all special. Little did I know that it would be more of a message to myself.

Your family is an inspiration to me. Yes, the kids are unique but so are you. You will have so many joys and sorrows; and, yet, who knows what will grow from the seeds of love you are sowing now.

  2. Hi Karlee,

I stumbled across your blog while looking for other autism moms. I have a 5.5 year old son with autism and I too have days where I feel cheated out of a “normal” life and like it is unfair that he isn’t “normal” too. Thank you for sharing this 🙂

    1. Hi Jen,

I’m so glad you stumbled upon my blog. The reason I started it was to connect to other Mom’s! I just posted a new blog post you might enjoy. 🙂
